Following the Commonwealth's commitment to develop national AI laws by early 2027, First Ministers agreed that "large data centres bring material energy, water and land-use impacts that need to be managed", and that the Australian Government will introduce AI laws in Australia's Interests, "a nationally consistent regulatory framework that will set minimum requirements for large data centres". The Commonwealth will work with the states and territories on "consistent mandatory standards for data centre energy, water and land-use, and support skills and training opportunities", and "intends to legislate the AI standards in early 2027, including conditions associated with delivering AI training". The instrument is infrastructure standards, not an education measure; its value to this collection is as the dated marker of Australia's decision to legislate nationally on AI, the jurisdictional context for every Australian provider in this site's audience.}, keywords = {institutional-policy, ai-regulation, australia, training-data}, note = {AI \& Animation Education Knowledge Base} }
