AB  - In the letter accompanying its results for the quarter ended 27 June 2026, filed with the SEC on 5 August, The Walt Disney Company placed its animation and visual effects units at the centre of a stated AI investment, naming Industrial Light and Magic, Pixar, Disney Research Studios and Walt Disney Imagineering, and committing to a creative process that stays human-centered, artist-driven and creator-led. The concrete deployments the letter goes on to describe are all in the parks business: the J.A.R.V.I.S. internal tool, made available to more than 2,000 Imagineers, and AI-driven digital twins and simulation used to design and stress-test attractions. The same document, under capital allocation, states that the company is evaluating reductions in labour and SG&A. For an animation educator the value of the item is the gap between the named studios and the described tools: a major studio has put an AI commitment on the record without yet disclosing what its animation and VFX teams are using.
