TY - ELEC TI - Pitch Black extends Rising Sun Pictures' REVIZE machine-learning toolset to FOLKS, El Ranchito and Square One PY - 2026 DA - 2026/09/09/ PB - Pitch Black AB - In a statement dated 9 September 2026, Pitch Black, the group that owns Rising Sun Pictures, FOLKS, El Ranchito and Square One, announced that REVIZE, the machine-learning toolset Rising Sun Pictures began developing in 2018, will be available across all four studios. REVIZE covers face replacement, body replacement, cosmetic adjustment and performance refinement, and has been used on more than 30 films, among them Elvis, Furiosa, Mickey 17 and Sinners. Troy Tobin leads the group-wide effort as Head of REVIZE (Research and Innovation), with a cross-studio process for deciding whether an existing capability fits a production challenge or new research is needed. The statement's stance is deliberately measured: in Tobin's words, "We don't want to hit every problem with the AI and machine learning hammer. But having it as one tool in the bag gives us more options." For a VFX or animation course the item is a rare studio-authored account of a proprietary machine-learning system with an eight-year production track record, as opposed to a vendor claim.
